The Well-Traveled Couple

“I have found out that there ain’t no surer way to find out whether you like people or hate them than to travel with them.” — Mark Twain

Seems like many EC couples have taken Mark Twain’s comment to heart.  They have traveled the world with their potential spouse and, luckily, have decided to go ahead with the wedding anyway. By the time they come to us, the caterer, these couples have a world of adventures to share with guests and they long to incorporate these experiences throughout the reception concept itself.

A tray made from a map tells a story of a travel adventure

As the culinary vendor, we tell the wedding couple’s story through our catering toolkit: serving trays, food and beverage selections. Symbols of international travel such as maps become customized hors d’oeuvres passing trays when put under glass with a frame. Hors d’oeuvres selections are then paired with maps to tell the story. One recent wedding that Entertaining Company created the food for, embraced a Grecian theme after the lovely couple took a trip to introduce the bride to the groom’s parents. Naturally, this travel adventure led to a menu that included a Meze of Domades, Cocktail Peppers Stuffed with Feta, Melitzanosalata, and Tirokafteri.

Even the cocktail hour can speak to a theme of travel adventure, as drinks can refer to place and have special shared meaning. A specialty cocktail Negroni with wine selections which include Santa Margharita, Prosecco dei Vandobbaiadene, Rosso di Montepulciano and Vin Santo are popular with those that have traveled to Tuscany. A touch of voila is added with French 75s for a couple who became engaged in Paris.

We love to hear our clients’ travel stories as well as be inspired by them in planning the food and beverage part of the evening.
