More 2019/2020 Wedding Trends…

September is here, and with it comes the rush of wedding planning (cue stars colliding, fireworks exploding). September is one of our busiest planning months; it’s when we set to work with our vision and mood boards (we’re still in love with Pinterest), menu planning, and trend forecasting for the months ahead. Our latest blog post on 2020 wedding trends got a lot of buzz, so we’re here with more of the premium #content you all love – which is to say, more details to consider for your 2019/2020 wedding based on research we’ve plucked from around the interwebs.

Here we go!

Hyper Personalization & Custom Illustrations

Hyper personalization is on the rise, and you’ll be seeing custom details from the first instant of the guest experience. This could mean personalized illustrations, customized place cards, signature goodie bags and ‘take home’ treats, or specialty cocktails. We went to a wedding in Florence with gorgeous hand inked illustrations from an artist who works with Lily Pulitzer; she also made individualized menu cards for each of the 150 guests for the seated dinner. Needless to say, we kept the invite. Check out our trip to Florence at Villa Gamberaia here.

Vellum Paper (Invites!)

We’re tried and true stationary lovers (Blick is on speed dial) and we’re jazzed about the advent of vellum paper invites. Vellum is transparent and waxy, and always adds a layer of beauty and intentionality. It’s a big detail for invites for 2020 brides. And expect to see other mediums thrown in – like leather, suede, acrylic and even gold leaf.

Out-of-the-Box Venues

Couples are increasingly going for “out of the box venues”. This could mean industrial spaces, historic sites, or just re-imagined spaces, which aren’t traditionally used for weddings. Fun fact: we know a few location scouts around the Midwest and are always on the hunt for our clients, looking out for unusual venues (horse farms, abandoned barns, under the radar gardens, etc). Hit us up if you’re looking for a non-traditional space; we would love to offer some options for unconventional spaces to fit your mood.

Olfactory Experiences

Couples are introducing ‘olfactory experiences’ into their celebrations, from custom blends spritzed onto invites to perfume bars at their receptions. Check out our review of French niche magazine “Nez” which features interviews and snippets of the coolest characters in the perfume universe here.

High-Low Bites

It’s all about high low, from delicious formal seated plating to our favorite category of “Late Night Snacks”. We love coming up with customized after hours bites for our guests, from mini cheese burgers and shakes to homemade toffee and chocolate dipped strawberries. We make sure these snacks are hyper personalized, tied to a detail of the couple’s romance (or just a favorite nibble).

Pantone Colors (Coral)

Pantone! Trend forecaster and color bible. Pantone is still the origin of color forecasting, and Living Coral (the 2019 Color of the Year) is still making waves. We’re seeing this hue in florals, cocktails, and linens, and we’re into it. Check out some mixology moments we created with this tone.
