Our Favorite Bat and Bar Mitzvah Themes

Mitzvah season is upon us! We here at EC believe that such a major milestone in a child’s life deserves an equally major celebration. As custom caterers, we’ve helped create countless out-of-this-world parties. From regional themes to reality-show-remakes, we’ve done it all. Here are a few of our favorite bat and bar mitzvah themes from recent parties.

Broadway / Times Square Party

Take a trip to Times Square for the big birthday! Transport guests straight to the streets of NYC with classic New York street foods and street sign replicas. Is the guest of honor a fan of musicals? Pay homage to their favorites with themed hors d’oeuvres and buffet dishes.

Game Day Party

Batter up! Kosher ballpark dogs are a must-have for any baseball-themed bar mitzvah. Ours are miniature, so guests have room for all the other goodies. We recently worked on a Boston Red Sox vs. Chicago Cubs party. Pitting teams against each other gives us the opportunity to serve signature foods from two distinct cities. Classic East Coast cannolis for dessert, please!

Around the World Travel Party

Oh, the places you’ll go. For a young traveler-to-be, how about a party that “flies” guests all around the world? Oversized white balloons make the venue feel sky-high. We scattered interactive international food stations throughout the space to give guests a global tasting.

Camping Party

No need to trek out to the woods when you can have a DIY s’mores bar anytime, any place! Adventure await with makeshift campfires, classic Canadian doughnuts and themed cake pops.

"Ladies Who Lunch" Dessert Party

Put on your pearls for a pretty and pink bar or bat mitzvah. We love complementing pastel decor with coordinating desserts like delicate macarons, pink parfaits and red velvet cupcakes.

Candy Land Party

Sweetest party ever? A candy-themed mitzvah is a whimsical welcome to adulthood! Deck out every table with decadent desserts. Giant candy decor makes the whole venue feel like a movie set.

Beach/Luau Party

Hang ten and soak up the sun with a beachy mitzvah. Sandy decor, sunny colors and summer-ready food makes your venue feel like the lakefront. For a more tropical theme, we like to incorporate big Monstera leaves, Hawaiian sliders and tiki drinking glasses.

“Survivor” Party

Welcome to the jungle! We put together a “Survivor”-themed party complete with deserted-island-inspired bites and dino-egg drinking glasses. The rubber snakes and real branches are the real winners.

Garden Party

Get outside with a tea party in the garden! This mitzvah theme can be inspired by whimsical children’s books, Parisian cafes or your own backyard. Fill up on finger sandwiches, sweet tea and delicate desserts.

Wild Wild West Party

Wrangle up your child’s best and bravest friends for a trip to the Wild West. Rustic wood tables and saloon-ready lighting brings the venue to life. We served party dips and dinner dishes in miniature pots and pans. For dessert, cowboys and cowgirls dug into individual apple pies (à la mode) in miniature cast iron skillets.
