Healthy + Hearty St. Patrick’s Day
When we think of March, we think of St Patrick’s Day. St. Patrick’s Day has evolved into a variety of festivals across the globe. We celebrate Irish culture with parades, special foods, music, dancing, and a whole lot of green. Instead of enjoying Irish inspired food just on March 17th, we’ve decided to enjoy it all month long. Today’s blog is highlighting a few of our favorite healthy and hearty St. Patrick’s Day foods.
Fish and Chips
Lightly breaded. Crunchy on the outside with a warm and soft inside. Every bite we take of our fish and chips is packed with flavor. And dolloped with our creamy giardiniera tartar sauce. We like to add house-made waffle chips. Our staff not only loves this dish but so do our clients. Pair it with a Guinness and you’re almost back in Ireland.
Shepherd’s Pie
There is no dish heartier than shepherd’s pie. Seasoned ground meat mixed with vegetables topped with layers of creamy mashed potatoes. Although the traditional version may not be the healthiest it is definitely a great comfort food. Sub the meat portion for a blend of vegetable medley base and instead of heavy mashed potatoes on top, make mashed cauliflower for a more health conscious dish. Either way, we’ll be making this all month long!
Colcannon
Another delicious mashed potato dish we’ll be devouring in March is colcannon. Colcannon is a classic Irish Pub dish. It’s a mix of creamy potatoes, roasted cabbage and sauteed kale. Sometimes served with traditional Irish sausage.
