Styling with Kenny // Holiday Gift Giving

‘Tis the season for gift giving! Coming up with a gift for those you only see once or twice a year can always be a little difficult, that’s why Kenny has put together a few useful tips that with hopefully take some stress out of finding the perfect gift.

First:

Put together something that can be used long after the holidays are over. Sure the easiest gift is always a bottle of wine or favorite spirit that you can give to the house party host, but why not accompany those bottles with bar snacks that you either make or buy. The Umi ice chiller holds 3 to 4 bottles of wine or champagne and Kenny suggestions adding a bag of specialty popcorn, spiced nuts, or holiday crackers to create a memorable gift. After the Umi is done being used as an ice chiller, it can be used for serving party snacks like popcorn or even fill it with soil and grow plates or flowers in it – so many uses!

Second:

cocktails! Maybe you infuse your own bourbon or have a great lemoncello recipe – serve those in a stunning glass decanter instead of just a bottle in a paper bag. The decanter will look beautiful on a bar top or side table after the holiday spirits have been drank.  Personalize the decanters by tying a festive ribbon and maybe add a recipe card so everyone knows what they are drinking.

Lastly:

Desserts. The holidays are never complete without delicious homemade sweet treats. Ditch the festive paper plates wrapped in plastic wrap and serve your mouth watering cookies, bars, and whatever else you love baking, in a vintage Chester tray.  The taller sides make it perfect for packing in a lot of treats and handles on each side make for easy transport. Well after all the desserts have been eaten, Kenny suggests that the Chester tray can hold dinner napkins at your food buffet or grace your dresser as a glamorous way of storing jewelry!  Another great option is the Aruna tray that is an essential tray for home entertaining; as Kenny calls it the “Little Black Dress” for serving ware. When the Aruna is not being used to serve food and drinks, it’s great for showcasing candles on a mantle or storing dining room table accessories like coasters and napkin rings.

When you give a gift that has more than one use, you can almost always guarantee that it will get used throughout the year.  There is nothing worse than spending time and money on something you know will only get pushed to the back of a closet.  So start your holiday shopping at The Storied Table, and turn ordinary gifts into extraordinary home décor pieces.
