Wedding Trends for Summer 2016
Floral! Floral! Floral! Creative uses of floral in décor, food and beverage are trending at summer weddings this year according to our EC Wedding Team, Julie Fitzgerald , Regan Tate and Kenny Woodman . Here’s what we’re seeing….
Suspended floral centerpieces are trending this summer at chic events around town according to our consultants. Whether elaborate or simple, a hanging centerpiece allows for greater free space for food on a dining or buffet table. As a guest, we’ve often been tempted to remove a large centerpiece that hindered conversation across the table! According to Julie, if we are placing centerpieces in the center of the table, they are often edible, incorporating food for sharing.
Regarding wedding floral color palettes, with so many opportunities to use vibrant and bright summer flowers, our sales consultants are seeing increasing use of subtle and elegant pairings of floral and linens in tones of deep blues, gold, silver and cream. Layered chargers, plates, glassware and flatware in mixed metals alongside neutral and cream tones with a pop of color set a simply elegant and “on trend” note.

Unusual uses of floral and herb flavors for food and beverage are also trending. Both Kenny and Regan are seeing rosemary and other herb garnishes making an appearance in specialty cocktails. Our Entertaining Company Culinary “Just Add Booze” Mixers in floral herb flavors such as Blackberry, Rosemary, Clover and Honey are in demand at the bar for our farm to table seasonal weddings. Lavender, hibiscus and rose are this season being added to cheese spreads offered during hors d’oeuvres hour and chocolates for dessert.
We are welcoming the convergence of food and floral, and our EC wedding consultants are currently brainstorming ways to expand upon this aromatic trend!
