Raindrops on Roses and Whiskers on Kittens, Bright Copper Kettles and Warm Woolen Mittens … happy music for a happy holiday season! We are happy for the holidays!
For those of us who work in the catering world, our relationship to the oncoming holidays is a bit more nuanced. We’re feeling both light and happy as December comes as well as sleep deprived and cranky from extra long days making sure our clients are taken care of and satisfied. We might start out with a metaphorical healthy shake to start the day and end up with a Scotch in hand …
Loving the seasonal classics, and who doesn’t love “A Charlie Brown Christmas?” We do, however, need something a bit more soulful than childhood tunes and mall Muzak. Somewhere after planning the 20th cocktail party, corporate gathering and holiday tea, we’re adding tongue in cheek Eartha Kitt lyrics: “I want a yacht, that’s not a lot” and “fill my stocking (Santa) with a duplex and checks” to our prayers of gratitude. As Eartha says, “I really do believe in you (Santa). Let’s see if you believe in me”.
Getting through the season with soul and high spirit intact is the goal. Great music from around the world, assorted decades, and my fave singers helps get me through.
Here’s my very own personal holiday video song list. Click each one, I found you a video to watch to get in the holiday spirit! As they say,” Keep Calm and Carry On”…will do, Santa, with headphones.
