Re-Vamping Halloween
The way we celebrate Halloween changes as we get older. We trade in the ritual of running door-to-door gathering candy, to being the ones handing it out. And we don’t focus our entire month of October brainstorming the perfect costume, but instead we find ourselves searching for fall décor inspiration that’s fun and edgy without all the childish spider webs and “scary” skeleton bones. Each year The Storied Table team loves discovering new home décor trends that re-vamp traditional decor for every season, and this year’s Halloween home style is all about dark, and romantic.
It’s time to trade in the vibrant orange, red and yellow for a more glamorous look incorporating black, gold, silver and white. Set your table with edgy black and white plates accompanied by a great set of pewter flatware, and line the center of your table with a black lace runner; mini pumpkins scattered throughout the tabletop is perfect for adding a small Halloween touch. To really set the mood of dark and romantic, use candle light all over your home, the dripping white wax screams haunted house but in a less spooky way. We also love the use of different shaped ice cubes in a cocktail, like mini skulls, that go along with the event theme but in a more surprising way.
Lastly, the candy bowl. Don’t settle for a small plastic bowl covered in pumpkins, instead, let the candy be the pop of color in a large metal bucket. The bucket can be used for bobbing for apples, fill it with ice and hand out waters or overflow it with bags and bags of candy. The Umi ice bucket has the perfect amount of embellishments that really tie in the whole dark and romantic look, but is still practical and great for entertaining throughout the season.
