The Vintage Romantic Bride

Daisy and Gatsby Get Their Happy Ending…

Tone of The Big Day: Starring: Ralph Lauren as Father of the Bride

Where: For a wedding high on romance and a big reveal, we set our Vintage Romantic wedding in one of the many historic mansions around Chicagoland.  There are so many lovely options in a city so rich in history, including: Cheney Mansion, Stan Mansion, Dewes House and Dawes Mansion.

The Setting:

Music: Cole Porter and Bobby Short

The Dress: Do you swoon at the idea of lace and an antique cameo broach?  Lauren Bush’s wedding gown hits the right note.

The Dress Code: Black ties and beads. Pocket watches. Even a patent leather spat wouldn’t be out of place.

The Cake: The more ornate, the better.  Think edible pearls, pink butter cream, and fondant roses.

The Special Touches:

Hemstitch napkins, crystal-cut glassware, chandeliers, and candelabras.

A champagne fountain erected with coupe glasses for the ladies and a Bourbon Bar for the fellas.

A 1920s Rolls Royce with Just Married in the rear window brings the evening to a close.

The Menu:
1920s High Society

Deviled Eggs with blue cheese filling

A “Relish Tray” buffet – inspired by a classic relish tray: olives, crudité, house-made pickles and gherkins, radishes with butter and salt, roasted beets, and more…set right next to the martini bar.

Oysters Rockefeller

Roasted Rack of Lamb, served with a mini pot of homemade mint jelly and accompanied by roasted parmesan and parsley potatoes.
