The Rustic-Urban Bride
You can’t decide. Are you a little bit country? Or a little bit rock n’ roll? Split the difference with a blend of both on your special day.
Tone of The Big Day:
Skip the formalities. You’re throwing a really fun party where you just happen to get married.
Where: Because the Rustic Urban Bride is all about the re-purposed setting, really, these nuptials could be held anywhere. It’s less about the space, and more about what you do with it/how you showcase the surroundings.
Want to go heavy on the rustic? We love the sprawling Midwestern countryside setting boasted by Elawa Farms in Lake Forest. Rather up-the-ante on the urban vibe? Check out Greenhouse Loft, known for it’s open floor plan with epic views of Chicago coupled with a Platinum LEED certified green sensibility.
Music: Bluegrass! Check out Chicago’s Sunnyside Up
The Dress: Are you more Stencils + Patterns or Beads + Sequins? Check out Alabama Chanin and DIY the dress of your dreams.
The Dress Code: Sundresses and Seersucker, of course.
The Cake: A multi-tiered strawberry shortcake studded with juicy, local strawberries.
The Special Touches:
Skip the linen bill. Use re-purposed farm tables and play up their heavily-used-in-a-past-life charm.
Create place settings made of craft paper, mason jars, and place cards made of old-school shipping tags with reinforced holes.
Bar towels make great napkins and wooden crates overflowing with in-season fruit and vegetables are beautiful centerpieces!
Want to treat your guests as they leave? Set up a Farmer’s Market Table, overflowing with fresh fruits and vegetables, and give each guest a brown paper bag that’s been monogrammed with the couple’s initials – either with a sticker or a stamp. Guests can pick some fruit and vegetables on the way out the door and have a lovely seasonal breakfast waiting for them the next morning!
The Menu:
Global with a regional/down home vibe
Beef, beer, and blue cheese hand-pies
Pot roast sliders
Mini hotdogs with kimchee
Kansas-style barbecue bar
Roasted corn with peri peri butter and our Chef Shawn’s signature salt mixtures
