Spring Break in Athens
Even though it’s bleak here in Chicago, a girl can dream of clear bright skies and crystal blue water. We’re heading to Athens in March and are feeling inspired by all things blue and white. Fashionistas Tory Burch and Tiffany Erickson are already singing the praises of blue and white fashion for Spring 2017 ~ so we’re certain of seeing this classic and contemporary mix in both fashion and on the table. Since before we launched The Storied Table we collected pieces with this great color combination and are now thrilled to be sharing our finds. Finally, this trend is here not only in the fashion world but it is making its way to into our homes which has us extremely excited to build on our Spring collection and explore Athens! Even before landing in Greece, we’re already doing Meze crazy entertaining and love filling our Pippa Glass with Kalamata olives and other nibbles before cocktails. Really, what does a girl need beyond olives, nuts and feta to get the conversation flowing?
Discovering more textiles in blue and white is definitely on the Athens agenda. In the meantime, we are taking along our blue and white Odi and our Ozlem which is the perfect natural accompaniment to a countryside Greek picnic of Spanakopita, vino and fruit. We are also delving into our research of urban Athens food markets and excited to enlarge our understanding of Greek filled pastry pies through visiting a shop called Ariston which sells 120 varieties! Our beautiful Phoebe – yes named for that famous mythological goddess of Greece -, Ariel, Pippa and Hilary filled with lovely red or white are just the glasses to fill with wine and contemplate upcoming Spring break in Athens. After our trip, stay tuned for a blog about our visits to indigenous wine bars starting with Oinoscent and Kidi de Grece.
If you know any textile or ceramic makers in Athens that we need to visit~ please let us know! Here’s to getting inspired for Spring Break!
Cheers!
