Mirrors

Mirrors have always fascinated me. I love their smooth surfaces and the way they reflect images to enhance even the most commonplace. The patina of an antique mirror as well as the elegance of a metallic effect mirror frame always seems to elevate whatever else is around the room. A mirrored tray whether placed in the kitchen , at a party, or on a night stand, encourages the imagination to run wild and happily reflects whatever is placed on top.

My love affair with mirrors began in Greenwich Village when my eccentric grandmother would drag me as a girl from one underground antique store to another. Afternoons were for auctions when interminable (at that time) hours were spent waiting for just the perfect object to be brought up to the stage and then the bidding would begin. From those days forward, I can’t seem to get enough of mirrors. When I discovered brocante style mirrored trays for The Storied Table, I was smitten.

Of course,  from a hosting perspective, our first thought is of the Dottie , Gemma , and Nelly as a serving vessel. The space of the tray is defined and enhanced by the elegant edges.  We love how the mirror reflects our Entertaining Company food and those that enjoy it!
