Arguably Chicago’s premier library and one of its most prominent city structures, Harold Washington Library is the architectural centerpiece of the South Loop. It’s centrally-located, just a block west of famed Michigan Ave. and within walking distance of Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park. The library boasts several spaces for private events, the biggest of which is the Winter Garden, an expansive, glass-dome-encased atrium featuring marble floors and a living indoor arboretum on the 9th floor of the library. Natural light floods in from the ceiling year-round, and the Willis Tower is within sight. The Grand Lobby is a ground-level space sandwiched between intricately-painted ceilings and marble floors, and flanked by classic stone columns. Need a stage? The Cindy Pritzker Auditorium is perfect for lectures, readings, performances and and panel discussions. With a mammoth amount of rentable space, Harold Washington Library makes a perfect backdrop for weddings, cultural celebrations, corporate events, cocktail hours, conventions and more.
