Once a power plant warehouse, now a state-of-the-art event space, Chicago Illuminating Company is located in a historic South Loop building. It’s just blocks from both the famed McCormick Place convention center, as well as the Lakefront Trail and Lake Michigan. Inside, the ballroom boasts a modern, lofted feel, with urban steel beams and warm hardwood flooring. The tile mosaics, arched windows and built-in marble bars (perfect for expert food and mixology presentations) give the space extra character. The outdoor area is perfect for Hindu wedding ceremonies and other traditional parties that require use of an open flame, and the ivy walls in the courtyard are the perfect backdrop to any party. The indoor space is a bright white and marble canvas that’s easily transformed to fit any theme. Chicago Illuminating Company has enough square footage to accommodate large events like galas and corporate parties, but the upscale design ensures an intimate, special feel for any size fête.
