Mixing It Up With Tom – Shoguns Julep Recipe (VIDEO)

We were thrilled when Tom was invited to mix it up with The Storied Table and asked to reveal some of his favorite drink recipes for their YouTube channel. As the chief mixologist here at EC, Tom serves up unique cocktails and specialty beverages for clients of all kinds at corporate and social events, home parties and weddings. The Storied Table is a home décor online store, also founded by Wendy Pashman. As The Entertaining Company’s sister company, you will often find pieces from the TST collection on the buffets and centerpieces in the food presentations at many of our catered events.

Shogun’s Julep

2 ounces rye whiskey
½ ounce Yuzu juice
½ ounce wasabi simple syrup

Pinch of smoked black sea salt
top with club soda
Sprig of mint (or shiso, if available)

Step 1 – Wasabi simple syrup

In a small saucepan whisk one cup each of wasabi powder, sugar and water until combined.
Bring to a boil until sugar & powder is dissolved. Let it cool completely.

Step 2 – Craft the cocktail

Combine the rye, Yuzu juice , sea salt and simple syrup in a shaker. Fill with ice and shake.
Strain into an ice-filled glass and top with club soda.
Roll once between the shaker and glass and garnish with a sprig of mint.
