Modern Bride

A Wedding as Timeless as Love Itself

Tone of The Big Day: The Upper East Side of weddings.  Classic and sophisticated. Understated yet exacting.

Where: For the modern bride, clean lines and wide open event-scapes can consistently be found in modern museum and gallery spaces. Some of our favorites include The Modern Wing at The Art Institute, Floating World Gallery, or Chicago Illuminating Company.

The Setting:

Music: Frank Sinatra.

The Dress: Vera Wang, obviously.

The Dress Code: The Little Black Dress is the evening’s staple, but Hermes, J. Crew, and Brooks Brothers are definitely on the guest list.

The Cake: Architecturally-inspired clean lines. Tiers of smooth, polished, fondant embellished only with the tiniest adornments. Frosting is shades of white and ivory.

The Special Touches:

Guests are welcomed with a signature champagne cocktail called, (naturally,) The Modern. Champagne, Aperol, St. Germain Liqueur, and a touch of fresh lemon

In terms of the décor, highlighting fabric with draping and lighting creates “reveals” in the setting.  Think candlelight juxtaposed with dramatic up-lighting.

Ghost chairs make each table “float” and create clean lines.

Create a lounge for guests to retire to after dinner or during dancing.  Couches, arm chairs and lots of neutral and white pillows create a respite for guests to recharge.

The Menu:
So very stylish….

Tagliatelle with lobster sauce
Roasted Brussels sprouts with crispy garlic bread crumbs

A mobile cart visits table-side with “surprise and delight” items for guests to embellish their main course with. Think: green beans with preserved lemon, or grilled lamb chops with arugula pesto, or braised carrots with mint.
